It was sometime in late 1997 when my husband and I were looking to move back to Mississauga after living in Ajax for a number of years, when the dreaded advice from parents started coming in. Why don't you check this house or that house out they would ask. We had both grown up in Mississauga, but now we were looking for something special, something more than just a house. We were looking for a place where we could raise our own children.

We had been driving around different areas of Mississauga when I remembered that my mother had suggested we "check out that area just north of Port Credit Arena. There are lots of nice homes there" she had said and so we did. I had figure skated in that arena and my husband had played hockey there, but now with a different agenda at hand we saw a neighbourhood that even though we'd been through it many times before, we had never noticed it. After all, it was just on the way to the arena. Of course my mother will take all the credit for us finding our dream property in an area known as Mineola West - as she should.

We purchased our ‘fixer-upper' late in 1998 and set straight out to rebuild it to fit our ever growing family. We had young three boys when we purchased the house and had to change our plans to accommodate our fourth child, a daughter. It took much more time, energy and of course, budget, than we had anticipated, but in May of 2000 we moved into our new home.

The eighteen months from purchase to moving in yielded us our greatest surprises though. Upon moving in, we already felt at home, because over that period of time we had the good fortune of experiencing what it meant to be a resident in Mineola West. We didn't know when we bought, but when we moved in we knew we were somewhere special, where community still meant something. We already knew so many people by the time we moved in, because everyone would stop to chat and introduce themselves when we were at our house checking on the construction progress. I knew we had made the right choice for us and for our children. This was a place where we could put down roots as deep as all the old oaks in the area.

I could go on about the area, school and neighbours for pages, as there is just too much to tell. I hope I have the opportunity to meet with you in person, share all that Mineola has to offer and help in any way I can. I appreciate having you take the time to stroll through my website. If you like what you see, please stroll through Mineola and if you would like to live here, I'm simply a phone call away.

Thank you.
